It’s Mental Health Awareness Week and this year’s theme is movement: moving more for our mental health.

We can help to protect our mental health by moving regularly. Our bodies and our minds are connected, so looking after ourselves physically can also prevent problems with our mental health.

Our customers and teams have been sharing their tips and experiences for improving mental and physical health throughout the week.

Our wonderful customers at White Willows have been enjoying moving more for their mental health by going out on trishaws with the brilliant volunteers at Cycling Without Age Sheffield.

“It gets me out of my flat, which I struggle to do on my own – lovely views of the park while getting fresh air, I thoroughly enjoy it!”

“I get to see Sheffield and how it keeps changing, lovely views, always makes me feel happy.”

Our teams across all of our services have also been sharing how we’re supporting customers to enjoy moving more. Activities have included walks in the park, trips to the seaside, chairobics, dancing, table tennis, badminton and one-to-one movement sessions.

“Being active and outdoors makes me feel good and gives me a feeling of freedom. Spending time with animals makes me feel lovely and happy.”
